Astragon Entertainment and its development studio astragon Development have released a new trailer for Seafarer The Ship Sim as part of the "Games Forged in Germany" showcase. The video highlights the diverse initial fleet available at the Early Access launch later this year. Among the featured ships are the tugboat Bernhard, cargo ferry Herbert, police boats Rigid and Density, and fire ships Archer and Lancer.
Each vessel is fully explorable, equipped with interactive systems, and tailored to different maritime professions. The gameplay varies depending on the chosen role, with specific challenges and missions ranging from police patrols to cargo transportation. The studio also promises to expand the fleet during the Early Access phase with regular updates.
In addition to free navigation, players can move freely around their ships, perform repairs, operate equipment, and handle emergency situations. Missions can involve recovering lost cargo or fighting fires at sea using water cannons and maintenance systems.
Career progression is shaped by player decisions, with different factions offering unique missions and rewards. The gameplay also includes exploration of an open world featuring busy ports and structures such as oil rigs.
The Story Mode provides a campaign with multiple missions involving all available factions, while Quick Play Mode allows for unrestricted sailing. A character editor lets players customize their captain, adding a personal touch to the maritime journey.
Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game features realistic graphics, wave simulation using NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0, and an environment inspired by Northern European landscapes. The ships are intricately modeled, enhancing immersion on the sea routes. With dynamic weather, day-night cycles, and sandbox-style gameplay, the experience is constantly refreshed. The promise is to deliver an engaging and expansive maritime simulation where no two journeys are the same.
