The action platformer BARKOUR will launch in Q4 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, independent Polish developer VARSAV Game Studios announced after four years of development. The project arrives a decade after the studio was founded and combines acrobatic movement, stealth, combat and espionage elements in a single player adventure estimated to last between 15 and 18 hours.
The new Story Trailer offers previously unseen details about the universe, characters and mission of agent T.H.U.N.D.E.R., expanding on the perspective presented in earlier materials, which primarily highlighted parkour, combat, stealth and the various gadgets available during missions. The production also seeks to explain the protagonist's motivations and the reasons that drive him to face the challenges presented throughout the campaign.
The narrative combines humor, expressive animations and situations inspired by spy movies with more emotional moments, while T.H.U.N.D.E.R. retains the characteristics of a dog. His thoughts are translated into human language through a special device, but his personality is primarily expressed through his behavior, facial expressions, reactions and canine instincts as he faces increasingly absurd situations throughout the adventure.
The demo received a major update during gamescom 2026, bringing significant changes to gameplay, presentation, content and overall polish. The new version showcased the progress made since the previous demo, giving returning players an opportunity to evaluate the improvements while allowing new audiences to discover the game's concept.
Freedom of approach is one of the experience's main elements, allowing each mission to be tackled in different ways. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. can run across walls, leap between rooftops, silently avoid enemies, use gadgets to distract them and overcome obstacles, or jump straight into combat, leaving players to decide how they want to complete each objective.
The protagonist also has more than 30 emotes and a collection of over 30 gadgets that can be used for traversal, infiltration, distraction and combat. Combining these tools with the agent's agility allows players to find different solutions to challenges, while his reactions and instincts constantly reinforce that, beneath all the spy training, there is still a dog.
The campaign was designed as a handcrafted spy adventure featuring different worlds, missions, secrets and alternate routes across approximately 15 to 18 hours. The content includes 26 distinctive characters and environments designed to encourage exploration, offering unexpected locations and situations that explore the contrast between a secret operation and the unpredictable behavior of an animal.
