ShoreTiles is now available for PC via Steam, placing players in charge of building and protecting an island around a solitary lighthouse. Developed by VOXEL Studios and published by Noovola Publishing, the game combines tile-based construction, resource management and defence against creatures that emerge from the sea at night.

Construction takes place across a cold and seemingly endless sea, where every decision permanently alters the island's layout. During the day, players draw tiles from a randomised deck, connect different types of terrain and construct structures such as houses, farms, walls, military camps and additional lighthouses, while managing the resources needed to survive the attacks that arrive after dark.

The placement of buildings also directly affects the island's economy, creating opportunities to obtain additional resources through combinations. Houses placed next to other houses and farms connected to farms generate extra coins, while structures of the same colour provide even greater rewards. The system requires players to balance expansion with defensive preparation, as investing too heavily in one area can leave other parts of the island vulnerable when darkness falls.

Survival becomes increasingly important at night, when twisted creatures emerge from the depths and advance towards the illuminated areas. The ability to withstand their attacks depends on the preparation made during the day and how military structures are connected, determining how many units will be available to face the threats. As the island expands, new enemies and challenges increase the pressure behind every decision.

Progression also expands the possibilities for development by introducing relics, treasures, new buildings, combat units and enemies, allowing each run to present different conditions for expansion and defence. The combination of randomised tile sequences, constantly changing layouts and escalating threats contributes to an experience with strong replayability.

The initially peaceful atmosphere hides a constant sense of pressure, according to Matteo Maravalle, CEO of VOXEL Studios. "With ShoreTiles, we wanted to create something that feels calm and welcoming at first glance, but slowly reveals a constant sense of pressure," said the executive. "Every tile you place is permanent, and that permanence shapes how you think and expand. You're not just building an island, you're preparing for what comes next, knowing the night will always return."

The concept also caught the attention of Noovola Publishing because of the way it combines construction and action, according to Bilal Celoro, Project Executive at the company. "After working together on The Bench, we knew the kind of high level creativity VOXEL brings to its projects," he said. "ShoreTiles stood out immediately for how clearly it blends genres, taking the satisfaction of tile placement and adding real action and consequence. It's exactly the kind of distinctive experience we're excited to bring to the market, and we're excited to see what players think of it!"

The full release also introduces a mysterious challenge hidden beyond the fog, designed to test established strategies and demand new approaches to planning. By combining permanent construction, economic management and defence against threats from the sea, the experience turns every decision into part of an ongoing preparation for the next night.
