The game Trash, developed by Bin Chicken Studios and published by Soft Source Pte Ltd, is a cooperative adventure game set in a world built from trash. Players have the opportunity to restore balance to this trash world using abilities like jumping, gliding, shielding, or smashing obstacles, interacting with trash creatures, and customizing their characters with crafted forms and abilities. The studio has shared some information about the project.

The inspiration for creating Trash came from a desire to address issues related to climate change and the survival of the planet. Creative Director Charlie Kenihan commented, “It’s always disheartening to hear people being pessimistic about the future, but when you hear that pessimism coming from an eight-year-old, it’s something entirely different.” This perception, combined with the bushfires in Australia in 2020, reinforced the team’s determination to create a game that reflects on environmental issues and post-human life.

The cooperative gameplay in Trash promises to enrich the overall experience, allowing players to collaborate dynamically. Kenihan explained, “The game can be played solo or in co-op. In cooperative mode, player abilities interact with each other, creating fun and interesting gameplay moments. The game is designed with multiple endings, allowing you to play solo first and then gather your friends for a completely new playthrough with a different experience.” Players can expect procedurally generated dungeons and random generation in levels, ensuring that no playthrough is ever the same.

After the release, the Bin Chicken Studios team aims to gather player feedback and implement positive changes throughout 2025. Kenihan highlighted, “We are fortunate to have a partnership with Soft Source, who will be porting the game to PC and consoles. Our goal is to bring the game to fans and see how they respond!”

Additionally, there are plans for updates and additional content if the game receives a positive reception. “If fans love the game, the sky’s the limit,” Kenihan said. “We have a tremendous amount of rubbish content and DLC planned!” With these promises, Trash appears to be gearing up to offer a rich and evolving experience for its players.
