Comix Zero: A Dark Fantasy Soulslike Adventure Across Comic Book Pages

Bear Games has announced Comix Zero, an open-world Soulslike platformer that immerses players in the pages of a live-action comic book, where every panel holds a new challenge. In Comix Zero, players take on the role of Zero, a character who’s neither hero nor legend, but rather an unlikely protagonist fighting his way through a comic world where humor and hardship blend seamlessly, delivering both punchlines and punches.
The game draws inspiration from iconic titles like Elden Ring, Comix Zone, and Super Metroid, skillfully blending action role-playing mechanics with a unique comic-style presentation. Ukrainian studio Bear Games has crafted an interactive world that’s more than just a backdrop—players physically break through comic panels and face foes who lose their color with each hit rather than traditional health, adding a fresh layer to the game’s dynamic battles. Zero’s journey is filled with Deadpool-style humor, adding levity to an otherwise dark adventure.
Rooted in a dark fantasy aesthetic, Comix Zero recalls early 2000s themes while incorporating challenging gameplay elements of modern Soulslike games. The game’s tone captures the urgency and stylized violence of Comix Zone while requiring precise combat strategies seen in Soulslike classics.
Zero’s story is one of unlikely heroism: originally from Earth, he is whisked away to a brutal mythical realm ruled by ancient gods and ruthless slavers. His mission is straightforward yet daunting—save this new world, reclaim his wife’s love, and somehow make his way back home.
Players will explore a richly detailed open world filled with secrets and breathtaking landscapes, fighting through a series of epic battles across comic pages. As Zero leaps from one panel to the next, players will discover hidden areas, battle relentless foes, and unfold a compelling storyline in a visually striking, unforgiving world.
