The game Nutz Revenge, developed by Vinterm Games, promises to take players on a wild and action-packed adventure in a vibrant world full of challenges. With colorful graphics, epic boss battles, and a wealth of collectibles, the game invites players to join a group of bold nuts seeking revenge against a gang of sinister rodents. Although it doesn't have an official release date yet, the studio shared some interesting details about the game's creation process and design.
When asked about the inspiration for Nutz Revenge and how the concept evolved during development, Vince from Vinterm Games explained that the idea started simply, as a physics-based platformer with ball-shaped characters. "While thinking about the story, I noticed that the army character looked like an acorn. From there, it made sense for the characters to be different types of nuts seeking revenge against the rodents that eat them!"
Initially conceived about 12 years ago as a mobile game called "Nutz," the game has undergone a significant transformation over the years. Vince mentioned that, at the time, the graphics were simple, suitable for early iPhones and Androids. He briefly released the game and was surprised to see it reach over 20,000 downloads quickly, but the game didn't meet his expectations, so he decided to take it down. During the 2019 pandemic, after long shifts in the ICU treating COVID patients, Vince decided to revisit the project and turn it into a full-fledged platformer for consoles.
As for how Nutz Revenge stands out from other 2D platformers on the market, Vince highlighted that the game features five characters, each with their own playstyle, attacks, and unique personalities. This keeps things interesting, as players switch between them and figure out how to tackle each level based on the chosen character. Some boss battles, for example, require the use of all the characters to defeat the big rodents. He also mentioned that he is focused on making each boss battle unique, with different ways to attack, and that he is filling the game with collectibles, like comic books that can be found and read in the comic shop.
Regarding the goals and plans for Nutz Revenge after its release, Vince revealed that he intends to release the game in late 2025 on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Working mostly solo, with some freelance help, he estimates that the release should take place in the latter half of the year. After the launch, he hopes to see the game succeed and expand the brand. With the game full of comics and fun characters, releasing physical copies of the comic books, and perhaps even plush toys, would be amazing. He is excited to see where this could lead.
On the subject of possible updates or additional content after the game's release, Vince already has plans for an expansion with more levels and bosses, a kind of "side story," but this will only start after the game's launch. Depending on its reception on other platforms, he also plans to work on getting the game released on PS5 and Xbox. His main focus is to deliver a complete game that satisfies all players.
