Game Island, in collaboration with Toplitz Productions, has recently released the largest update for their immersive survival adventure game, SERUM, which is now available. Since its Early Access launch for PC in May, the game has undergone five updates, enhancing and expanding its features. The latest update, Patch 6, is the most significant, introducing 23 new Steam achievements and a customizable difficulty mode that allows players to adjust the challenge level to their liking.
With the addition of combat traps, including cutting, piercing, and impact variants, players now have new tactical tools to confront mutant creatures. These traps, along with the independent absorbers and the updated trap system from the previous patch, provide a deeper strategy for survival in the dark universe of Serum.
In addition to the new features, the developer has also focused on general game improvements. Patch 6 brought fixes to inventory, storage, missions, and visuals, as well as significant performance optimizations, which began in Patch 5 and continue to enhance the player experience.
Another highlight of the update is the inclusion of new languages, further expanding the game's international reach. This is in addition to the nine languages already supported, making it easier for players from different regions to immerse themselves in the world of Serum.
Looking ahead, Game Island plans to add a cooperative mode for up to four players, as well as a new, challenging canyon biome with more mutant creatures and revelations about the mutagen that is central to the game's main storyline and missions. SERUM is available now in Early Access on Steam, with special editions offering guides and additional materials to enrich players' journeys.
