Tripwire Presents, a division of Tripwire Interactive specializing in publishing major indie titles, has announced the Special Edition and opened digital pre-orders for The Stone of Madness. Set to release on January 28, 2025, the game will be available for Windows PC via Steam (officially verified for Steam Deck), Epic Games Store, and GOG, as well as for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch version will be available soon.

Developed by The Game Kitchen, renowned for their work on Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2, The Stone of Madness is now available for pre-order at a suggested price of $29.99 USD for the Standard Edition and $34.99 USD for the Special Edition. The Special Edition includes a digital copy of the game, a 60+ page digital artbook with beautiful illustrations, and the official digital soundtrack (OST) featuring 24 tracks, including the main theme "La Piedra de la Locura," which is already available on YouTube. Digital pre-orders also come with a 10% discount until January 28. Fans can download a free demo on Steam, which includes the game’s prologue with several hours of playable content.

In a recent video series from Tripwire Presents, players can explore the unique strengths, weaknesses, and fears of the five playable prisoners, each with their own characteristics and traumatic backgrounds. From Amelia, a young thief who uses her small stature and agility to sneak through forbidden areas and steal objects while grappling with the horrors of an overactive child’s imagination, to Eduardo, a burly craftsman who uses his immense strength to overcome obstacles but is haunted by his fear of the dark. Each prisoner must collaborate to face their fears and attempt to escape... hopefully, keeping their sanity intact.

These character videos are available in a playlist on YouTube, giving players a deeper look into the game's rich narrative.

The Stone of Madness is a real-time tactical stealth game set in a Spanish insane asylum in the late 18th century. Featuring stunning hand-painted visuals inspired by the art of the period, the game is set in the Pyrenees, where an old Jesuit monastery houses both an asylum and an inquisitorial prison. Five mysterious characters have been incarcerated under various pretenses. Victims of cruel punishments, madness, and despair, they must come together to plan their escape from the facility and its malevolent inhabitants, relying on each other to confront their deepest fears.
