Fire Brick Games, an indie studio under DOPI Games, presented two of its projects at gamescom 2026, bringing the distinct experiences of One Last Hand and King's Well to the event. Released in August, the games explore different possibilities within the card game genre, with one focusing on chaotic multiplayer confrontations and the other combining deckbuilding, roguelite elements, and a steampunk setting.

One Last Hand is an online party game for two to six players that transforms elements of poker into a dynamic card battle without following the traditional rules of the game. Players secretly bid for the cards they want, steal resources their opponents need, and use poker hands as attacks, while Relics and Power ups alter values, modify suits, and introduce new rules to each match.

The multiplayer structure turns every round into a competition filled with bluffs, comebacks, and revenge plays, as combinations can quickly change when players use different resources to interfere with their opponents' hands. The result is an experience focused on competition between friends, where an unexpected comeback can change the course of a match and put temporary alliances to the test.

King's Well takes a darker approach to the genre by placing players inside a colossal steampunk prison, where escaping requires facing dangerous encounters and making strategic decisions along procedurally generated routes. Cards can be fed into rusted machines to activate attacks, armor, healing, and powerful combos, or saved to build poker hands capable of granting valuable bonuses.

With distinct approaches, the two titles presented by Fire Brick Games at gamescom 2026 demonstrated how card mechanics can be used both in unpredictable multiplayer matches and in a single player experience centered on survival and progression.
