Astronaut Diaries Limited has announced that its debut title, Denari, will launch on March 24, 2027, for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, in partnership with publisher Ninja Kiwi. The game is a cel-shaded isometric action adventure starring Taiu, a young warrior who uses telekinetic abilities to fight the Denari Empire, a magitech-powered force that is expanding across his nation and crushing all resistance.

Taiu’s combat abilities allow him to turn the enemies’ own strengths into resources during battles. Players can redirect fireballs, launch smaller enemies into larger opponents, and parry attacks at the right moment to return damage. This approach makes each encounter demand different responses, encouraging players to study the battlefield and identify how each threat can be turned to their advantage.

Taiu’s progression is closely tied to the events of his journey and the empire’s territorial expansion, which brings losses and hardships that shape the protagonist throughout the adventure. Guided by his friends and the spirits of his ancestors, the warrior develops his sword techniques and telekinetic abilities to face groups of enemies and challenging boss encounters, gradually taking on the role of the hero his people need.

The combat approach was highlighted by Shrikkanth Sreedharan, Founder and Game Director at Astronaut Diaries. "With Denari, we wanted to make an action game where enemies don't just represent challenges to overcome, but resources that can help you to succeed. We want players to think on their toes, and consider which enemies represent a threat, or an opportunity during every moment of combat", he said. Sreedharan also highlighted the care invested in the game's identity, which combines weapons inspired by Māori bone carvings, Indian tabla instruments in the soundtrack, and a narrative influenced by the experiences of indigenous and immigrant children growing up in New Zealand.

The original soundtrack was composed by David Mason, known for his work on Dredge, I Am Your Beast, Penguin Colony, and TMNT: Tactical Takedown, and features guest vocals by Emi Evans, known for her work on NieR: Automata, Dark Souls, and Monster Hunter.
