Grindstone and Games Farm have announced the release of the Jötunnslayer: Hordes of Hel demo, bringing a fresh approach to the horde-survivor genre. The demo, available on Steam for PC and playable on Steam Deck, introduces players to the dark Viking underworld of Helheim. Early media previews at gamescom praised the game for its "visibly detailed graphics" and called it "an epic roguelike experience," setting the stage for the full release.

In this demo, players can choose between two distinct characters. The Berserker, a fierce warrior specializing in close combat, offers intense hack-n-slash gameplay, while the newly revealed Seer excels as a powerful long-range spellcaster. Both characters feature customizable perks tied to the Norse gods Thor and Freya, allowing players to tailor their combat abilities to suit their playstyle.

The demo showcases several key improvements, including enhanced combat mechanics, updated UI/UX, and refined visuals. The immersive soundscape, with music composed by Robert 'Brucky' Bruckmayer, further enhances the Nordic and dark atmosphere of Helheim.

The Jötunnslayer: Hordes of Hel demo provides a substantial preview of the full experience, featuring polished graphics, engaging gameplay, and immersive sound.
