Developer PikPok has just released Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, the latest entry in the acclaimed survival franchise, now available for PC and Mac via Steam Early Access. This marks the series’ debut on computers, bringing an intense new setting in 1980s Texas ravaged by a zombie outbreak. The title had already ranked among the most wishlisted games on the platform and will receive updates every four to six weeks throughout the early access period.
Amid the scorching Texas summer, the fictional city of Walton descends into chaos. As the outbreak spreads, hope fades. With the town collapsing, a small group of survivors struggles to endure, constantly threatened and running low on essential supplies.
Leadership becomes crucial. Players must guide these survivors in a desperate search for safety, upgrading shelters and embarking on dangerous missions to gather food, medicine, and weapons. The undead aren’t the only threat — desperate and ruthless humans also push trust and empathy to their limits in a crumbling world.
The game blends horror with deep shelter management mechanics and tough moral decisions. Random events shape the story, demanding strategic planning and acceptance of inevitable losses. Every decision may lead to either salvation or the downfall of an already fragile group.
The Early Access journey will include regular new content, with the first major update scheduled for May 2025. Interested players can check the full roadmap on Steam to stay up to date with what's ahead.
For PikPok, this new chapter marks a significant evolution. “Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days represents an exciting and immersive evolution of the franchise,” said Mario Wynands, CEO of the studio. “With the launch in Early Access, we welcome players to the city of Walton and look forward to sharing frequent updates and receiving feedback throughout development.”
