In Death Row Escape, developed by SE Games Studio, players are thrust into a deadly situation inside an abandoned prison where a routine repair job takes a dark and unexpected turn. The game, which currently has no official release date, challenges players to face armed mercenaries, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover grim secrets hidden within the prison walls. According to Sercan Evyapan, the solo developer behind the project, the inspiration for the game came from the tension that can arise from performing ordinary tasks in dangerous environments. "A prison, especially one that's been left in disrepair, naturally brings an unsettling atmosphere," he explained, highlighting the contrast between the mundane task of a repair job and the chaos that follows.
Key gameplay elements in Death Row Escape include atmospheric exploration, puzzle-solving, and dynamic enemy encounters. Evyapan describes how players will navigate the prison’s dark corridors, piecing together environmental clues to uncover the location’s disturbing history. "Every area tells a story about the location's past and the hidden threats within it," he shared. The game’s puzzles, which involve unlocking doors, repairing circuits, and avoiding traps, serve to heighten the tension, giving players moments to pause and think critically. Dynamic enemies, with AI that reacts to the player's actions and movements, ensure that each encounter feels unique and intense.
When discussing the challenges of developing Death Row Escape, Evyapan noted the difficulties of working solo. "The biggest challenge was balancing all aspects of game development, from coding to designing levels and handling marketing efforts," he said. Despite these challenges, the developer has remained focused on delivering an immersive survival experience, with plans to continue refining the game.
Looking ahead, Evyapan hopes to launch the game around mid-2025, though the release may be pushed to the end of the year. He also plans to provide consistent updates post-launch to enhance and expand the gameplay experience. "I'm committed to offering players new content and improvements well after the initial release," he concluded, setting the stage for an evolving and engaging survival horror journey.
