"Prim" is an intriguing point & click adventure game developed by Common Colors in partnership with Application Systems Heidelberg, slated for release in 2024. The story revolves around Prim, a young girl who, after her mother's death, discovers she is the daughter of Death and must adapt to a new life with her father, who turns out to be quite rigid. The narrative blends humor and mystery, exploring themes such as life, death, and the complexities of family relationships. Jonas Fisch, founder of Common Colors, shared insights about the development process and challenges faced.

According to Fisch, "Prim" delves into deep themes like life, death, and the challenges of family relationships. "The game is a coming-of-age story about a young girl, Prim, who discovers her unique heritage (being the Grim Reaper's daughter) and faces the challenges that come with it." The narrative is driven by Prim's mission to correct a grave mistake, which leads her to explore the underworld and interact with its quirky inhabitants. These encounters enrich the game world and offer players a blend of humor, emotion, and mystery. The interplay between the light and dark elements of the story is reflected in both the visual style and the tone of the dialogue, creating a unique atmosphere that is both eerie and endearing.

Fisch also discussed the major challenges encountered during the development of "Prim." One of the biggest hurdles was balancing the demands of his job as a high school teacher and his family responsibilities with the extensive game development process. "Managing these commitments with the long and often daunting game development process required a great deal of time management and perseverance." He highlighted the crucial role of support from his family, friends, and team, who believed in the project and encouraged him to keep going. The successful crowdfunding campaign was also a key motivator, demonstrating that the community was excited about "Prim" and wanted to see it come to fruition.

Regarding the goals and expectations for "Prim's" release in 2024, Fisch revealed that his main goal is to connect with the passionate adventure game community. "My biggest hope is that players will love and resonate with what we’ve created. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’d say no to critical and financial success". He emphasized his desire for the game to leave a lasting impression on players and for them to find something meaningful in the world that has been built.

"Prim" features unique elements that are expected to resonate with players. Notable among these is the distinctive visual style, with hand-drawn black-and-white art that combines a "creepy-cute" aesthetic inspired by Tim Burton’s animated films. Another standout feature is Prim’s companion, a living spider-eye that resides in her eye socket. "Players can remove this spider-eye to explore areas that Prim cannot reach and use the 'Spider Vision' to uncover secrets and hidden truths about the game’s NPCs." Additionally, the game features fully voiced dialogue in both English and German and includes mini-games like "Casketball," offering players a rich and varied gaming experience.
