Independent studio Lost Token and publisher Dionous Games have released a new trailer for Theropods, the upcoming point-and-click adventure set to launch on July 23, 2026, for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. The video offers the most detailed look yet at the experience, highlighting its puzzles, pixel art environments, and the unlikely friendship that drives the story forward.

After six years of development and a successful Kickstarter campaign, the project is approaching release with an unusual take on the genre. The entire story is told without dialogue, subtitles, or lengthy text boxes, relying instead on animation, sound, and gestures to communicate information and guide players through the adventure.

The journey follows a young hunter as she explores a prehistoric world filled with jungles, valleys, canyons, caves, and dinosaur inhabited territories. Every location presents its own challenges, encouraging players to carefully observe creature behavior, character reactions, and environmental changes triggered by their actions.

Rather than focusing on direct combat, the experience emphasizes creative problem solving. Predators can be distracted, guarded passages require alternative approaches, and environmental elements can be manipulated to trigger reactions that open new paths or help avoid potentially deadly encounters.

The story begins when a glowing stone falls from the sky and lands in the protagonist’s village. Its arrival attracts a bloodthirsty tribe that attacks the settlement and enslaves its inhabitants. After escaping into the wilderness, the young hunter discovers that the mysterious object is connected to a stranded spaceman whose damaged escape pod depends on it to function.

The unlikely partnership between the two characters becomes the heart of the narrative. Together, they must cross a hostile world to rescue the captured villagers and find a way to send the visitor back home, blending science fiction elements with a setting dominated by dinosaurs and primitive societies.

Among the game's standout features are its completely wordless storytelling, hand drawn artwork animated frame by frame before being converted into pixel art, and puzzles centered on observation and ingenuity. The adventure also promises a tale of courage, trust, and survival set within a world filled with mystery and discovery.

The atmosphere is further enhanced by a soundtrack that combines tribal rhythms with science fiction inspired synthesizers, helping create an immersive world that communicates its emotions and events through visuals and sound rather than traditional dialogue.
