With the conclusion of its third edition, GameTech has consolidated itself as a pillar of Lithuania’s video game ecosystem, marking a decisive moment in the country’s strategy to position games as a high-impact creative and technological industry.
Since its launch, the program, an initiative led by the Lithuanian government together with Startup Lithuania and delivered by GameBCN, has acted as a catalyst for emerging and growing studios by combining acceleration, international expertise, and ecosystem development. Across three editions, the initiative has demonstrated both reach and depth in its results.
Throughout its trajectory, more than 250 teams applied, highlighting the strong demand for specialized support within the gaming sector. From this pool, 32 teams were selected, representing a wide range of studios at different stages of development, from early concepts to companies preparing for global expansion.
The program delivered more than 1,000 hours of mentoring and training, provided by an international network of industry experts focusing on game production, business development, publishing, monetization, and investment readiness. This intensive support was complemented by 24 public events, including masterclasses, open days, demo days, and playtesting sessions, which contributed both to team acceleration and to strengthening the local community.
Financial impact also stood out as one of the initiative’s key pillars. Across the three editions, participating studios received a total of €1 million in grants from the Innovation Agency, enabling teams to focus on production, talent acquisition, and market validation. In parallel, the program fostered investor connections, resulting in ongoing negotiations estimated at around €650,000.
Karolina Urbonaitė, Head of Startup Lithuania, highlights the broader relevance of the initiative by stating: "GameTech has proven that targeted, sector-specific acceleration can have a real systemic effect. Beyond the numbers, the program has helped build connections, ambition, and international outlook across the Lithuanian gaming ecosystem."
Joan Francesc Bañó, CEO of GameBCN, reinforces this perspective by saying: "Across these three editions, we have seen studios mature faster, think bigger, and operate more globally. GameTech is not just about accelerating individual teams; it is about embedding international standards and opportunities into the local ecosystem. "
As Lithuania’s video game industry continues to grow in both talent and economic value, the third edition of GameTech represents a moment of consolidation and reflection. The initiative has demonstrated how collaboration between public institutions and international partners can turn creative potential into sustainable and globally competitive companies, strengthening the country’s position as an emerging hub for game development and interactive entertainment in Europe.
