After receiving a positive reception during its Early Access period, Cursed Companions, developed by Crimson Forge Studios, is set to launch its 1.0 version on July 15 for PC via Steam. The cooperative horror title has stood out for its communication driven gameplay, turning everyday words into a central part of the survival experience.

The game's defining feature challenges each player to avoid saying a specific forbidden word assigned to them, such as "Okay" or "I think." Whenever a team member accidentally says their assigned word, they immediately take damage, forcing the group to carefully manage both communication and strategy throughout each session.

Players can take on a variety of cooperative modes, including three standalone boss encounters, more demanding dungeon runs in Challenge Mode, and Endless Mode, where the goal is to survive against increasingly difficult threats for as long as possible.

The 1.0 release significantly expands the experience with a wide range of new content. Highlights include Act III, which completes the trilogy that began with the first two acts, the Respawn Dice mechanic that lets players gamble with the Dark Queen for a chance to return to battle, and ten additional creatures, bringing even more variety alongside the twenty six monsters introduced during Early Access.

The update also adds thirty seven new Steam Achievements, increasing the total to one hundred and eighty three, along with seven new pieces of equipment, sixty five additional rooms, four new outdoor maps, and fifteen unlockable cosmetic items, providing plenty of fresh content for both returning and new players.

The Crimson Forge team reflected on the project's journey since development began. "Two years ago, we set out to build this game, and seeing the popularity it has gained in Early Access is more than we ever expected. The community has grown so much and has been incredibly helpful in tracking down bugs and suggesting new features. Seeing big streamers pick up the game and have fun with it has also been a dream come true for our small team. Thank you for your patience, your feedback, and your support. We look forward to sharing what comes next.", said the Crimson Forge team.
