In partnership with publisher DANGEN Entertainment, developer Friends of Safety has announced the release of Kingdom of Night, a long-awaited 80s-inspired isometric action RPG set to launch on December 2, 2025. The title will arrive on PC via Steam, GOG, Humble Store, and itch.io, accompanied by a brand-new trailer showcasing infernal boss battles, neon-lit streets, and haunting glimpses of the chaos consuming Miami, Arizona.
Set in an alternate 1987, the story follows John, a teenager who wakes up to a night of terror after discovering that his neighbor has been kidnapped by a satanic cult. Unknowingly, the cult members have unleashed the ancient entity Baphomet, whose influence turns the quiet desert town into a demonic invasion zone.
What begins as a desperate rescue mission soon transforms into a cosmic battle for survival. To save his friends and his hometown, John must face demons, corrupted townsfolk, and high school bullies transformed into monstrous creatures. Each step brings him closer to the fortresses of demonic generals who rule over the city’s regions.
During this long and terrifying night, the protagonist must gather the strength to challenge Baphomet himself, as the fate of the world hangs between the sacred and the profane. The journey promises to test both his courage and his faith, blending elements of coming-of-age drama, cosmic horror, and romance.
The game’s structure offers complete freedom of exploration, featuring an interconnected map and multi-path quests. Players can choose their class, customize abilities, collect rare equipment, and dive into intense combat that captures the aesthetics and energy of the 1980s.
Each decision shapes the unfolding narrative as John experiences what could be the final hours of a reality on the brink of collapse. The events play out in a serial-like rhythm, with parallel storylines and encounters that heighten the sense of urgency and immersion.
