Hunter Studio released the December update for Lost Castle 2, expanding its systems and deepening the experience of the 2D beat ’em up roguelite. “Explore abundant treasures and items to enhance yourself, master various weapons to showcase your skills, and challenge powerful monsters to demonstrate your strength.” The update reinforces the game’s focus on variety and progression by introducing new mechanics that affect both combat and pre run preparation.
Among the main additions is the NPC recruitment system, which allows players to form a full party before descending into the dungeons. At the camp, companions can be hired through the bulletin board, with a total of eight customizable characters available, including two familiar faces from the campaign. Some of these allies may appear randomly during combat, allowing players to replace the currently hired NPC, while in four player co op mode additional NPC hiring is disabled.
The update also introduces new customization options through the Advanced Rules Settings, offering greater control over each run. These include end of game damage statistics, ally knockback, and random level paths, features designed to add more variety and new challenges to every attempt.
Another highlight is the Settlement Evaluation system, in which each run can grant up to four evaluations based on player performance. In addition, a new camp weapon selection mechanism has been implemented, allowing players to freely choose their starting weapon after completing specific conditions, making strategic preparation even more relevant.
Finally, several combat adjustments were made to improve balance, including changes to bow inscriptions such as Thundering Ranger and Strongarm Archer, a rework of most resonances, adjustments to dual blades weapon skills, and numerical tweaks to certain treasures.
