LCB Game Studio has unveiled a brand new gameplay trailer for Randel’s Quest, highlighting its creative blend of slot mechanics and word guessing within strategic combat. The roguelike inspired by Wordle’s logic turns color hints into a core part of the battle rather than simple visual feedback. As described, "Green / Yellow / Grey each trigger different reel effects, so every guess reshapes the fight (and sometimes the "wrong" word is the smartest move!)". Alongside the trailer, the team has also updated the playable demo on Steam, implementing improvements based directly on early player feedback.

The update focuses on quality of life adjustments and user interface enhancements, making the slot based word combat clearer, smoother and more intuitive. The concept blends linguistic reasoning with roguelike strategy through a three reel machine system, where each turn begins with a spin that determines the active effects. Players must correctly interpret the color hints and choose the right word at the right moment to maximize their impact.

In this world, hints are not just visual indicators. Green, yellow and grey activate distinct effects on their respective reels, meaning every guess reshapes the course of the fight. In certain situations, even a seemingly incorrect word can become the smartest move. Every decision directly influences the flow of combat, reinforcing the strategic weight behind each choice.

The gameplay follows a clear structure. At the start of each turn, players spin a three reel machine, with one reel assigned to each color. Green, correct letter in the correct spot, triggers the green reel effect. Yellow, correct letter in the wrong spot, triggers the yellow reel effect. Grey, letter not present in the word, triggers the grey reel effect. The loop can be summarized in three steps: roll the slots for effects, read the color hints and strike with the right word at the right moment. After all, every word counts. Even the wrong ones!

Between runs, players can upgrade their machine with new effects unlocked throughout the journey. Enemies do not remain passive, as they add threats and counter effects into the same pool of possibilities, raising the stakes with every battle and demanding constant adaptation.

In addition, the game features characters who expand its strategic possibilities. Slotto acts as a slot machine hacker capable of rerolling, cloning, deleting or upgrading effects, while Jack is a merchant who sells essential items such as potions and rare oddities, including even a plant or an egg. In Randel’s Quest, resources are not purchased with traditional money but through an economy driven by color hints, turning each result into a valuable element within combat.
