The Biggleboss Incident: A Corporate Satire Point-and-Click

In The Biggleboss Incident, players find themselves immersed in a satirical corporate setting where nothing sinister is happening at Biggleboss Inc. — or at least that’s what the company motto claims. Tom, the protagonist, is dangerously late for work and hasn't even started presenting his big project, AGER. Developed by BUNKWORKS, the game is slated for release in Q1 2025. In a recent discussion with the studio, the team shared insights about the game's inspiration and development process.
The creator revealed that the idea stemmed from his disdain for his last job. He found the corporate environment he experienced to be inherently ridiculous and ripe for satire, and envisioned how this setting could be transformed into a game. His love for point-and-click adventures, combined with the setting of games like Metal Gear Solid, led to the concept where the office serves as a stand-in for a military facility, with department heads acting as bosses. The "corporate thriller" aspect of the game naturally emerged as the plot developed.
Regarding the development process, the creator emphasized the importance of a comprehensive design document from the start, including a puzzle-dependency chart. This helped establish key details, game flow, and the desired tone before even installing a game engine. The game’s structure borrows heavily from classics like Monkey Island 2, where players collect pieces of paper similar to map pieces in the referenced game, a nod to the style of games that inspired him.
With the release anticipated for Q1 2025, the studio is tackling challenges such as adding visual polish and fixing bugs. The inclusion of voiceovers is planned, representing an initial expense that is hoped to enhance the game's appeal. Additionally, extensive testing will be conducted to ensure the game’s functionality and enjoyment across different devices, including iOS.
The creator noted that The Biggleboss Incident does not aim to stand out with radical innovations in the point-and-click genre. Instead, it seeks to be a strong example of the type of game he enjoyed growing up, without trying to replace classics like Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, or Broken Sword. The goal is to create a game that fits well alongside these icons without being ridiculed.
