ESDigital Games and developer Storm in a Teacup have announced that Steel Seed will officially launch on April 10, 2025, for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The new trailer offers a glimpse into its gameplay, highlighting stealth action, parkour, and an engaging narrative. Created by the team behind Close to the Sun, the game is set in a dark sci-fi world where humanity faces extinction. Players follow Zoe and her drone companion, KOBY, as they explore a hostile underground facility in search of answers for humanity’s survival.
"We poured our passion, creativity, and dedication into every detail to bring this world to life. This game is our tribute to all stealth-action players who move in the shadows, plan every step, and embrace the challenge. It took years of work, and we can't wait for everyone to finally experience it," said Carlo Ivo Alimo Bianchi, CEO and Creative Director of Storm in a Teacup.
The world of Steel Seed features breathtaking post-cataclysmic landscapes, from towering industrial zones to eerie biodomes, all meticulously designed for an immersive experience. The narrative challenges the very definition of humanity, artificial intelligence, and survival.
Zoe is not alone—her only ally is KOBY, a prototype drone that is more than just a tool. He aids in exploration, puzzle-solving, and serves as an essential emotional anchor for the protagonist’s journey.
The gameplay blends stealth action, parkour, and dynamic combat, allowing players to either avoid or confront enemies. The game features a progression system with three skill trees and 40 unique upgrades, enabling players to customize Zoe’s playstyle.
More than just a survival experience, Steel Seed invites players to reflect on the thin line between human and machine, trust and control, resilience and despair. With a story edited by BAFTA-winning writer Martin Korda, the game promises a deep and engaging narrative.
