Sin or Suffer has been announced for PC by indie developer Gritty Piggy and publisher Assemble Entertainment, presenting a story driven survival horror experience set in a medieval prison consumed by violence, corruption and supernatural events. Following a brutal riot, the guards disappear and the inmates take control of the facility, forcing a broken prisoner to descend into its depths in search of answers about Sin, a mysterious force capable of twisting bodies, minds and reality itself.
The turn based combat system focuses on brutal and deliberate encounters, including the ability to mutilate enemies, while every confrontation can directly influence the course of the story. The prison is divided into five interconnected areas with different exploration routes, alongside companions and non playable characters whose stories can permanently change depending on the decisions made throughout the journey.
Resource management will also play a central role in survival, requiring careful use of dangerous items, crafting and other resources available to the player. Choices will further contribute to a structure featuring multiple possible outcomes, including premature endings, main endings and a secret ending, expanding the replayability and encouraging players to explore different paths.
The narrative begins as a prison horror story but gradually takes on stranger and more disturbing dimensions as the protagonist ventures deeper into the complex. The experience combines dark fantasy with a world where language itself can reshape reality, while the consequences of the player's actions help reveal an increasingly personal and grotesque threat.
The project represents Gritty Piggy's largest production to date, following the studio's earlier work on websites and fantasy novels before moving toward a larger scale game. The team has built its world around a passion for different forms of horror, aiming to create an experience where understanding the environment and its mysteries can be just as dangerous as directly confronting the threats lurking within it.
