Shoreline Games, a newly founded studio by veterans of the gaming and entertainment industries, is gearing up for an exciting 2025, with the release of three titles from a trio of talented studios. Starting in Q1 of 2025, Shoreline will launch its first wave of games, with more titles expected to be announced later. Their vision is to bring high-quality, story-driven experiences that stand out in a crowded market.
The first game set to launch is Nova Hearts, developed by Lightbulb Crew, best known for their critically acclaimed title Othercide. This time, the studio is diving into a turn-based strategy game that blends dating sim and visual novel elements. Nova Hearts revolves around a mysterious power that transforms players and other "highly attractive" people into superheroes or villains, encouraging them to "TEXT, DATE, and FIGHT" both friends and enemies.
Following closely in early Q2 of 2025 is Sanatorium by Zeitglas, a game set in the 1920s that explores the fine line between modern psychiatric treatments and pseudoscience. Described as having a similar tone to the critically acclaimed Papers, Please, the game tasks players with diagnosing and treating patients while balancing moral decisions against societal expectations.
In late Q2 or early Q3 2025, Onirism by Crimson Tales will move out of early access into its full 1.0 release. This vibrant and whimsical action-adventure game takes place in the world of Crearia, where the protagonist, Carol, uses toys and abilities to put enemies to sleep. Players will join Carol on her quest to find her lost friend, Bunbun, in a colorful universe filled with limitless possibilities.
Speaking about Shoreline Games’ mission, CEO and co-founder Keith Kawamura emphasized the importance of bringing standout games to market. "With over 17,000 games being released yearly, our goal is to find games that are systems-based, have a very clear narrative throughline, and provide them with the visibility needed to cut through all the noise that's out there," said Kawamura. "I love telling stories, and I want Shoreline and the games it works with to be the extension of that with a clear path to enjoyment."
Kawamura, alongside co-founder Jenny Zha, brings a wealth of experience from both the gaming and streaming industries. Both have worked with major companies such as Crunchyroll, Devolver Digital, South by Southwest, and Perfect World Entertainment, giving them unique insight into nurturing communities and creating lasting impact.
Zha, now serving as Shoreline’s COO, added, "What we've learned from our experience is how to nurture communities and fandoms wherever they are. We identify with games because we see a reflection of our identity therein, and that's something we want to pull into the spotlight for each of these games and communities we are working with."
Together, Kawamura and Zha aim to make Shoreline Games a place where meaningful stories and innovative gameplay take center stage, with 2025 shaping up to be a significant milestone for the studio.
