Badger Punch Games, in partnership with Thalamus Digital, has released a demo for Roguecraft DX ahead of Steam Next Fest, giving players an early look at the dungeon crawling roguelike that blends classic genre influences with elements inspired by Lovecraftian horror. A complete playthrough of the demo takes around 40 minutes with a single character, making it an accessible experience for those looking to sample the game before launch.

Previously acclaimed as a modern Amiga classic, the title is now preparing to reach a wider audience on Steam. Its turn based gameplay emphasizes careful decision making, allowing players to progress at their own pace while the stakes grow with every step deeper into the dungeon.

The adventure features three playable heroes, each offering a distinct approach to combat. The Warrior relies on powerful attacks and durability, the Rogue uses teleportation to execute deadly backstabs, and the Wizard compensates for physical fragility with devastating magical projectiles. Beyond their unique abilities, each character also represents a different level of challenge.

Procedurally generated environments ensure that every descent feels unique. Hidden rooms, mysterious potions, unpredictable monsters, and unexpected encounters appear in each new run, encouraging experimentation and greatly increasing replay value.

The visual presentation embraces beautifully crafted isometric pixel art that pays tribute to the golden age of retro gaming. The atmosphere is further enhanced by a soundtrack inspired by classic Amiga music modules, reinforcing the game's nostalgic identity and its celebration of traditional adventure and exploration experiences.

The story follows the legend of an ancient dungeon filled with unimaginable riches and unspeakable horrors. Tales discovered in an Egyptian library speak of a dark presence and a powerful magical amulet. After following clues and riddles across the world, the protagonist finally arrives at the entrance of the mysterious underground complex known as Mordecoom, ready to defeat monsters and claim the treasures hidden below.

Runs are designed to respect the player's time, with most adventures lasting between 30 and 40 minutes. This structure supports both quick sessions and more deliberate strategic play, balancing accessibility for newcomers with enough depth to satisfy genre veterans.

Among the additional highlights is the Chicken Run mode, which introduces a humorous twist to the traditional formula. In this mode, players transform into the fearsome Chicklathotep and wield poultry inspired powers to defeat enemies, expanding the game's playful tone.

With flexible difficulty settings, varied character classes, dynamic exploration, and strong inspiration from classic dungeon crawlers, the new version aims to appeal to longtime fans and newcomers alike, delivering a retro inspired adventure filled with constant challenges, unexpected discoveries, and more than a few surprisingly aggressive chickens.
