Project Tower launches today, January 6, 2025, marking the arrival of a third-person shooter that blends intense bullet hell combat with a unique morphing system. Set in a dystopian world dominated by the Hiks, players step into the shoes of a prisoner fighting to ascend a treacherous tower to reclaim their freedom. Watermelo contacted Jordan Caliari, president of Yummy Games, to learn more about the game's development and launch expectations.

When asked about the inspiration behind the morphing system, Caliari shared, "The morphing system was one of our earliest ideas. We wanted to give players several abilities they could switch between dynamically, inspired by games like Mario Odyssey. It's all about giving players freedom and creative ways to tackle challenges." This innovative mechanic allows players to adapt their strategy in real-time, enhancing the intensity and creativity of the gameplay.

The design of the Hiks tower, central to the game’s narrative, was also a key focus. Caliari explained, "The Hiks tower is a training facility where their army prepares for war. Each floor simulates different environments to train soldiers, and as you progress, you uncover the deeper truth behind the project." The evolving environments and challenging enemies ensure that each level feels fresh, with epic bosses pushing players to their limits.

Developing such a complex game was not without its hurdles. "Balancing the morphing system was tough! We wanted it to feel powerful without being overwhelming. Lots of playtesting helped us. Another was the cinematics. We decided to film every cutscene in a single sequence shot, which was ambitious but helped make the story feel immersive and cohesive," Caliari revealed.

Now available on PlayStation 5 and Steam, Project Tower carries high hopes for its reception. "We hope players enjoy Project Tower as much as we loved creating it," Caliari said. Reflecting on the potential for future content, he added, "Depending on how the game is received, we might consider developing a sequel to continue the adventure."

The exquisite realism of Project Tower’s graphics, paired with scenes that convey the immense scale of the challenges, ensures a deeply immersive experience. With action and adrenaline at its core, the journey through the Hiks tower is something fans won’t forget anytime soon.
