Among the highlights of the second 2026 edition of Mundo Gamer Showcase, Prelude Dark Pain drew attention with its dark fantasy tactical RPG experience. Developed by QUICKFIREGAMES and published in partnership with Firesquid and Gamersky Games, the title is also taking part in Steam Next Fest with a playable demo, giving players an opportunity to experience its story driven by conflict, choices, and strategic battles.

The narrative follows Soren, a retired warrior who has settled into life as a blacksmith in a land ravaged by war. After a brutal attack on his family, he is forced to lead an uprising against the Order of the Burning Crusade, an organization that rules part of Statera through violence and devotion to the mysterious Lord of Pain. Amid the turmoil, the protagonist joins the Blue Network faction in an effort to confront a threat spreading across an already shattered world.

Combat unfolds through turn based tactical battles on grid based battlefields, where positioning and careful planning play a decisive role. Each battlefield presents unique conditions that directly affect strategy, from elevated terrain that increases attack effectiveness to dynamic environments that require players to constantly adapt to changing situations and enemy movements.

The setting takes place in Statera, a land devastated by the mysterious Dark Pain, an ancient force responsible for countless tragedies throughout history. The ongoing conflict is tearing reality apart, creating rifts between worlds that allow supernatural creatures to cross over and invade. These threats further intensify the struggle faced by those who continue to resist the Order's oppressive rule.

Decisions made throughout the campaign have a direct impact on both the story and the roster of heroes available for recruitment. Certain choices can lead to the permanent loss of characters, adding meaningful consequences to every action. The world is also home to more than twenty factions with their own cultures, alongside over seventy enemy types and numerous bosses designed to challenge players' tactical skills.

Beyond the main storyline, the adventure features side quests, exploration activities, and settlement management systems. World Missions scattered across different regions expand the narrative and reveal additional lore, while incursions allow heroes to rescue civilians, gather resources, and hold back enemy forces. Players can also forge new weapons and equipment, strengthening their warriors to face increasingly dangerous challenges throughout the journey.
