Brazilian studio Point N’ Sheep, known for Bloodless, winner of Best Brazilian Game at BIG Festival 2023, has announced its next project, Laser Guy, alongside a new trailer and Steam page. Originally created as the winning entry of GMTK Game Jam 2020, the title now returns in an expanded version that blends comedy, corporate satire, and destruction driven puzzle mechanics.
The experience follows a stressed game developer whose anxiety causes uncontrollable laser blasts capable of destroying almost everything around him. Instead of defeating enemies, players must escape chaotic office environments without hitting coworkers, as a single mistake instantly restarts the room. The gameplay turns pressure and workplace stress into the core of the experience, reinforcing the project’s satirical tone.
Its tightly designed stages feature futuristic offices packed with laser powered machinery, reflective surfaces, and environmental hazards that encourage creative destruction based solutions. The project also includes hidden collectibles scattered throughout the levels, such as CDs that unlock internal emails, game jam results, and behind the scenes material from the fictional Sovereign Entertainment, expanding the narrative surrounding the absurd realities of game development.
Beyond its comedic approach, the title uses a retro futuristic universe to mock recurring issues within the industry, including impossible deadlines, crunch culture, troubled relationships between developers and publishers, and toxic corporate environments. Set across Capital Prime and the Silicon Belt, the game presents a world dominated by exploitative mega corporations, alien developers, and production pipelines fueled by energy drinks.
