PQube and Dragonis Games have announced that Necrophosis: Full Consciousness, the complete edition of the Lovecraftian first person horror experience, will launch on May 28 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. To mark the occasion, a new devlog featuring Ares Dragonis was released, offering a deeper look into the creative vision behind the project.

The title represents the next step for the studio after The Shore, expanding its approach by combining Lovecraftian mythology with a dark and surreal aesthetic inspired by the works of Zdzislaw Beksinski, creating an even denser and more disturbing universe.

According to Ares Dragonis, founder of Dragonis Games, a key design decision that sets the experience apart from most horror games on the market is the complete absence of weapons, "Most horror games give you a weapon, a gun, an axe, something to fight back with. Necrophosis doesn't. That's intentional. This isn't about killing or surviving. It's about facing entities you cannot fully understand, exploring worlds your mind could never imagine."

The art direction draws heavily from the surreal paintings of Beksinski, a recurring influence in the developer work. His creations, which balance beauty and decay in dreamlike and unsettling landscapes, became the visual essence of the project, built over three years and composed of more than 400 handcrafted assets, making it the most ambitious work by Dragonis Games.

In the experience, players take on the role of Consciousness, an entity trapped in a decaying vessel, wandering through a world consumed by eternal rot. As they explore grotesque environments immersed in darkness, each puzzle and encounter draws them deeper into a macabre atmosphere.

The Subconsciousness expansion takes this journey even further, placing players in the role of a mind that moves without conscious thought, crossing new surreal locations and forgotten spaces, while a poetic narrative is woven directly into the puzzles.

Throughout exploration, players collect fragments of narrative poetry that help reconstruct the world lore, while solving increasingly unsettling puzzles, with tension built entirely through the environment and what surrounds them.

The console versions include both the base game and the DLC in full, offering the definitive way to experience this universe, bringing together all content into a single cohesive package.

In addition, the physical PlayStation 5 edition will include a special bonus by featuring The Shore, the studio debut title, which follows a father searching for his missing daughter on a forbidden island, combining atmospheric exploration, puzzle solving and encounters with terrifying entities.
