Amber has released the first demo of Mexican Ninja, described as "A fast, crass, and gloriously over-the-top 2.5D roguelike beat 'em up." The game takes players to Nuevo Tokyo, a chaotic fusion of Mexican grit and Japanese cyberpunk, where Narcos and Yakuzas merge into a corrupt organization known as the Narkuzas.

The proposal is to deliver arcade-style action that is easy to pick up but rewards mastery of its mechanics. Each run is randomly generated, duels are intense, and combat demands timing, positioning, and smart ability choices. What could be simple repetition instead transforms into a true spectacle of rhythm and precision.

Among its progression systems are the Spirit Animal paths, which unlock unique playstyles, and the so-called Mexican Jutsus, which amplify crowd control. In addition, the "Way of the Donkey" stands out as a swagger-filled skill tree that rewards solid fundamentals with over-the-top powers.

According to Dario Hoyo, Creative Director at Amber, "Mexican Ninja was born from our love of old-school beat em ups, then layered with the replayable bite of roguelikes. It's Mexico meeting Japan: lucha bravado, bilingual slang, and irreverence colliding with feudal drama and Yakuza steel." He adds: "We built combat to feel fast, satisfying, and skill-based, and we let the comedy live inside the fight. That's our philosophy: keep you on your toes, then make you grin with style, swagger, and huevos."

The available demo places players at the start of the uprising against the Narkuzas, with quick encounters, direct battles, and plenty of trash talk on both sides, providing just the right amount of energy to set the stage for the coming revolution. The demo is now available on Steam. The full release is scheduled for Spring 2026, also on PC via Steam.
