Trade or Threat is a store management simulator featuring first-person dungeon exploration, built around a gameplay loop that alternates between searching for treasure at night and running a medieval shop during the day. Developed by the indie studio Gaodelty Interactive, the game has a demo available on Steam and challenges players to organize goods recovered from dangerous areas, serve unusual customers, and decide which products to sell to repay debts to a boss who imposes strict rules. The option to trade in prohibited items adds another layer of risk to the daily routine, placing profit and safety on opposite sides.

Exploring dungeons requires players to stay alert to hazards and manage limited inventory space, as each expedition can yield valuable items needed to keep the business running. Locked chests, traps, and enemies force players to assess the risks before proceeding, while hiding spots can provide opportunities to escape threats. The limited carrying capacity makes it essential to carefully choose which items to bring back to the shop.

Debt repayment creates constant pressure on the business, requiring players to earn enough money before deadlines set by the boss. Daytime sales must compensate for the risks taken during nighttime expeditions, creating a routine in which every financial decision affects the business's survival. A lack of resources or mounting losses can jeopardize progress, making it necessary to balance immediate needs with future investments.

Selling prohibited goods offers an alternative way to increase profits, but it can also bring consequences for those who choose to ignore the rules. Players must decide whether to operate within the established limits or take greater risks in pursuit of quick money. This choice influences how the shop is managed and adds a strategic dimension to the balance between financial survival and personal safety.

Profits from sales can be invested in upgrades that expand the possibilities for exploration and management. Available improvements include increasing carrying capacity, making it easier to pick more difficult locks, and unlocking new ways to find valuable items. The combination of physical inventory organization, resource management, and first-person exploration aims to distinguish the experience from other business simulators.

The dark medieval setting reinforces the contrast between everyday commerce and the dangers lurking in dungeons, alternating moments of preparation with tense encounters. The need to stock the shop, meet payment deadlines, and decide which risks are worth taking keeps both activities interconnected, making the success of the business depend on exploration as much as on the decisions made behind the counter.
