Hookeye, a short psychological horror experience centered on fishing, is the debut game from indie duo Mallorian and FloralNoise, with a PC release planned for later this year. Set on a damp, fog-shrouded dock near the Californian coast, the project presents a narrative shaped by obsession, loss, sacrifice, and increasingly questionable choices in pursuit of a legendary catch.

The story puts players in the role of The Fisherman, an isolated angler engaged in a desperate battle against the ocean while relying on only a few beers, a limited supply of fishing equipment, and a growing obsession with his craft. The seemingly simple routine takes a disturbing turn when the call of a legendary siren begins to echo beneath the waves, driving the protagonist to cross increasingly dangerous boundaries in an attempt to capture her.

Progression turns fishing into a cycle of risk and reward in which every catch serves a specific purpose. The fish players land can be used as bait for larger creatures, creating a chain of choices that gradually leads the fisherman toward the siren. The process, however, requires careful management of hooks and bait, while dwindling resources force players to improvise in order to keep moving forward.

The visual style adopts a handcrafted approach inspired by the PSX aesthetic, reinforcing the experience's damp, foggy, and unsettling atmosphere. Its visual simplicity contrasts with a psychological narrative that follows the protagonist's deteriorating senses, transforming fishing from a contemplative activity into a surreal descent into the mind of a man consumed by his own obsession.

Limited resources also play a central role in building tension, as a lack of bait and hooks can change how each situation is approached. The need to find alternatives turns ordinary fishing elements into tools for survival, while the progression leads players through a story in which even the fish appear to carry information about events from the past.

The search for the siren represents the journey's main objective, but reaching her depends on the decisions made along the way. Every fish caught can help players pursue a larger prize, creating a structure in which they must constantly consider how much they are willing to sacrifice to keep fishing and move closer to the creature calling from the depths.

The psychological horror intensifies as the fisherman's perception begins to fail and his obsession takes control of his actions. The experience combines meditative moments with an increasingly unsettling atmosphere, using the repetition of fishing to explore the protagonist's mental deterioration and question how far someone can go when the desire to achieve a goal becomes an impossible need to abandon.
