FDG Entertainment unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Gombo during the Green Games Showcase, an event held as part of Summer Game Fest. The video offers a closer look at the environmental themes that shape the adventure and explores the mysterious infection spreading throughout the game's world. The title entered Steam Early Access on June 3.

The newly released footage features commentary from developer Martin Cochet, who discusses the environmental inspirations behind the game's universe. He highlights the contrast between the natural beauty of the landscapes and the corruption that is gradually consuming the region, a key element of the experience. Players are tasked with uncovering the source of this threat while exploring a hand drawn world centered around survival, building, farming, crafting, and combat.

During the day, the world presents a calm and welcoming atmosphere that encourages exploration and the development of a personal settlement. Once night falls, however, the infection transforms the environment and affects local wildlife, making enemies more aggressive and threatening the balance of nature. This cycle of preparation and survival plays a central role in the overall progression.

The adventure spans forests, haunted woods, villages, and dungeons, and can be experienced either solo or through seamless online co op for two players. Throughout the journey, players gather resources, build homes and farms, care for pets, craft equipment, and battle infected creatures, including powerful bosses.

The content currently available includes the Forest and Bayou biomes, along with the transition area that connects them. Each region features a main quest, side quests, mini bosses, and major boss encounters. Character progression is supported through equipable scrolls that grant useful abilities, while customization options allow players to modify the head and body separately.

The Early Access version also includes crop cultivation for resource gathering, base building with defensive structures, more than twenty types of infected enemies, and support for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck. Full controller compatibility is available as well, offering additional flexibility for players exploring its ever changing world.
