With a new trailer, FINJI announced that Usual June will launch on October 28, 2026, for PC via Steam. The announcement offers more details about the third person action adventure, revealing an experience centered on mystery, combat, and exploration as players take on the role of June while she attempts to uncover the source of a threat that could destroy the city of Fen Harbor.
The story takes the protagonist through different areas of Fen Harbor, including secret laboratories, buried tunnels, haunted observatories, abandoned train stations, and a mysterious otherworld. Throughout the investigation, June will be able to fight monsters and talk to ghosts, using the photographic memories of the dead and the living's ability to interact with objects to uncover clues before the ghosts disappear and time runs out.
The combat system will feature fast and fluid encounters, with options such as dodging, blocking, dashing, and special moves. Players will also be able to adapt June's fighting style through equipment and customized loadouts, while experience based progression will unlock new powers. These abilities, however, will come with consequences that players will discover throughout the journey.
The investigation will also feature 25 characters who will help June understand the events taking over the city. The interaction between the living and the dead will be one of the adventure's central elements, combining exploration, clue discovery, and different ways of perceiving the world to advance the investigation.
Development is led by the FINJI team under the creative direction of Adam Saltsman, known for Overland and Canabalt. The production also features writer David Pinckney, known for Needle & Thread, BAFTA winning writer Cara Ellison, whose work includes Ghost Town and The Séance of Blake Manor, and BAFTA winning audio director Adam Hay, known for his work on Dreams and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.
