Nebuloavoid Interactive, an American developer currently based in Thailand, announced that it will be present at gamescom asia on October 16 and that the trailer for FALLENSTAR is now available along with the launch of the game’s Steam page. The project challenges players’ reflexes and choices in an intense experience that blends roguelike and metroidvania elements within a corporate dystopia shaped by duty, values, and sacrifice.
The adventure begins when the player leaves the comfort of the spaceship hub to explore the hostile planet 347TH2-Terminus. This harsh environment features menacing enemies and lightning-fast boss fights that strengthen the character through both victory and defeat. A constant cycle of learning lies at the core of the experience, demanding adaptation with every attempt.
Throughout the journey, friendly NPCs can be encountered, offering upgrades and customization options. With hundreds of unique perks available, progression depends on the player’s ability to make the right strategic choices in real time. Adaptability is essential for the mission to succeed.
The narrative places players in the role of Aetherion’s newest agents, guided by the onboard AI Cora, whose purpose is not exactly to ensure their safety. The mission involves the search for infinite energy and the recovery of fragments of the so-called Project: Red Sun, while hidden truths about a decaying system gradually come to light.
Each encounter is defined by fast-paced and unforgiving combat, where strategy and reflexes determine survival. Exclusive weapons and abilities allow for multiple tactical approaches, but failure is also part of the equation, reinforcing the permanent progression loop and exposing the cruelty of a corporation that treats its agents as disposable tools.
The game relies on a persistent evolution system. Even after defeat, the achievements of each attempt contribute to technological advancement and open new possibilities for future runs. A variety of classes offers distinct playstyles, allowing both specialization and experimentation with unique skills.
With pixel art environments depicting a world scarred by exploitation and decay, the experience combines a dark atmosphere with challenging mechanics. Each run becomes a gamble between survival and obedience, in a journey that reveals both human fragility and the strength of a system willing to sacrifice everything in the name of the “greater good.”
