The indie game publisher Pineapple Works, in collaboration with French developer Nicolas Petton, has officially launched Dreamed Away for PC, Nintendo Switch (both generations), and Xbox One & Series S/X. To celebrate its debut, players can enjoy a 15% launch discount available until November 6th.

Set in 1990s France, the story follows Théo, a young boy who wakes up one rainy summer night to find his parents and sister Louise mysteriously gone. His search for answers leads him into a hauntingly surreal world where the line between reality and nightmare begins to blur. Ghosts and phantoms stalk him through catacombs and other eerie locations as he desperately tries to find his sister, always remaining just out of reach.

The game draws inspiration from the emotional tone and artistic direction of classics such as Earthbound, Undertale, and Omori, delivering a similar blend of nostalgia, melancholy, and introspection. Its distinctive pixel art aesthetic and immersive storytelling invite players to uncover the mystery piece by piece, wrapped in an atmosphere of psychological tension.

Combat introduces a dynamic twist, combining turn-based strategy with mini-games that demand precise timing and quick reflexes. Each encounter mixes bullet-dodging mechanics and time-based QTEs, enhanced by unique abilities, equipment, and a carefully crafted soundtrack that amplifies every emotional beat.

For those eager to experience a glimpse of the journey, a free demo is available on Steam, GOG, and itch.io for Windows, Mac, and Linux, offering roughly an hour to an hour and a half of gameplay.
