Corefun Studios presented a trailer for its new project Solar Echoes Star Fated, a top down 2D open world space action RPG for PC. The proposal delivers an experience focused on narrative and exploration, set in a dynamic and reactive sci fi universe.

In the story, players take control of Asteron’s ship, a criminal hunted by all major factions across the galaxy. His new crew does not yet know who he really is, but his enemies are fully aware of his identity. The story begins after a deadly heist in deep space, triggering a relentless pursuit.

Set in the Solar Echoes universe, the game follows Asteron, a fugitive commander carrying a stolen alien artifact while trying to survive an intense manhunt led by multiple forces, including the Black Stars crime syndicate, the Union Guard, bounty hunters and pirate gangs. Unlike generic protagonists, he features a defined personality, backstory and character arc.

Gameplay allows players to explore open star systems, take on illegal jobs and engage enemies in real time top down ship combat. The ship can be upgraded with more than 750 items, including weapons, shields, engines and armor, offering a wide range of customization options.

Every destroyed ship leaves wreckage behind, containing valuable loot and metal scrap used to repair the hull. At the same time, the pressure from the many factions hunting the protagonist never fades, keeping the player constantly on edge.

The world reacts directly to player actions. Raiding a supply ship, for example, removes that inventory from its destination station. News broadcasts track Asteron’s actions across star systems, while NPC interactions branch depending on player choices, opening and closing quest lines throughout the journey.

Andy, Developer at Corefun Studios, commented on the creative process: "For every Solar Echoes story I've written, I ask: what forged this character? Asteron was always one of the most compelling figures in the lore. Star Fated is his origin story — and the first time players get to experience the Solar Echoes universe from the criminal's side."

Asteron’s crew, composed of six aliens, was hired without knowing his true identity and, when the truth comes to light, they find themselves trapped, controlled through fear and by a Voidsea Artifact capable of killing any of them instantly. The crew’s gradual evolution from fear to resistance forms the emotional core of the experience, which will feature full voice acting.
