The independent studio Borealys Games, based in Montreal, revealed its upcoming game Echoes of Mystralia during the Future Games Show. This action RPG and Roguelite magic crafting game was announced at gamescom in Cologne, Germany, and will be on display at the event this week.

Echoes of Mystralia takes players back to the magical world of Mystralia, offering them the freedom to shape their own journey. With a revamped and more accessible magic crafting system, the game allows players to create spells, make tactical choices, and explore a world that changes with each encounter. “With this game, we wanted to advance to the faster action mechanics of popular roguelites while retaining the custom magic crafting system that people loved from our first game,” explained Louis-Félix Cauchon, founder and president of Borealys Games.

Players take on the role of Mazarim, a guardian of the Cycle of Memories who must return to the lost world of Mystralia. The mission is to find the missing inhabitants, hear their stories, and confront the Shadows of the Past that haunt him. “With Mages of Mystralia, the magic system supported a more contemplative puzzle-solving approach, so we completely revamped it to suit faster combat and focus more on mastery,” added Cauchon.

In addition to dynamic magic-based combat, Echoes of Mystralia introduces rich lore and deep exploration. The game features an interactive map that allows players to make meaningful decisions about where to explore and engage in side quests. Players will also develop relationships with characters they meet, unlock permanent abilities, and learn new spell recipes.

The overhaul of the magic crafting system promises to deliver an almost limitless and more accessible experience while retaining the essence that fans enjoyed in Mages of Mystralia. Borealys Games aims to offer a mystical and immersive journey for players in Echoes of Mystralia.
