Altered Alma, a cyberpunk metroidvania infused with RPG elements, has just unveiled a new trailer in celebration of their Kickstarter launch and the release of a brand new public demo, now available on Steam. In this gripping visual, players follow ex-mercenary Jack as he battles through the dystopian streets of Neo-Barcelona, facing off against ruthless gangsters and terrifying mechanical foes.

The Kickstarter campaign for Altered Alma quickly surpassed expectations, reaching its initial goal of €40,000 in just six hours. At the time of writing, the campaign has already exceeded its second stretch goal, with more milestones anticipated. Although no release date has been announced, the project is being developed by 2Awesome Studio and will be distributed by CRITICAL REFLEX. Set against the neon-lit backdrop of a futuristic Barcelona, players will navigate a thrilling narrative penned by industry veterans Antony Johnston (Resident Evil: Village, Dead Space) and Emma Beeby (Tails of Iron, F1 23). As Jack, players will need to carve a path through relentless adversaries, upgrade their abilities, and make critical moral decisions to protect those they care about.

The game promises a variety of engaging features, including a unique space opera metroidvania experience where players acquire powerful upgrades, uncover new routes, and adapt their playstyle to confront the criminal underworld of Neo-Barcelona. The Esperanza, Jack’s spaceship, serves as both a base of operations and a customizable asset, with crew members that players can recruit and form bonds with, directly influencing gameplay.

Altered Alma also offers intense, fast-paced combat that requires mastery of skills and abilities to overcome a constant barrage of enemies. Neo-Barcelona, a re-imagined version of the real-world city, serves as a stunning backdrop, complete with futuristic takes on iconic landmarks like the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell.

With writing contributions from Johnston and Beeby, Altered Alma delivers a compelling story that promises to captivate players. Fans can support the project on Kickstarter, try out the demo, and wishlist the game on Steam to stay updated on this exciting adventure.
