OPNeon Games has announced an update for TCG Card Shop Simulator, which brings significant changes and introduces tournaments to the game, available on Steam, Xbox Game Preview, and Xbox Game Pass. The new feature transforms the traditional card shop into a true competitive battlefield, where NPC customers take on the role of participants seeking glory in organized events.
Since its Early Access launch, the title has sold over 3 million copies, captivating players with the thrill of opening packs and the dynamics of shop management. With the arrival of the tournament update, the game moves closer to its full 1.0 release, with more details expected soon.
To celebrate the update and the upcoming full release, the game is available at a discount during the Steam Spring Sale, priced at $10.39 with a 20 percent reduction, running from March 19 through March 26.
The update allows players interested in organizing tournaments to purchase a dedicated prize shelf from the in-game MY DIY store, marking the first step in turning their shop into a structured competitive venue. From there, full event management can be handled through a dedicated app on the in-game phone.
With this system, players can define the size of the tournament, ranging from smaller eight-player showdowns to larger competitions featuring up to thirty-two participants. Additionally, organizers can set the entry fee, choosing between creating a welcoming, community-driven environment or a high-stakes, high-reward competition.
Another key element is the selection of play tables, which can be manually chosen and numbered according to the player’s preference, or automatically assigned for a more streamlined setup. This flexibility allows each shop to tailor events to its own style.
Customization also extends to rewards, as players can stock the prize shelf with cards and products from their own inventory. These items become the official prizes for top placements, including first, second, third place, and the top eight finishers, all displayed for participants to see and compete for.
Tournament flow is directly influenced by the appeal of the prizes and the entry fee, determining how quickly available slots are filled. Once registration is complete, the tournament begins the following day, with participants automatically finding their opponents at designated tables and progressing through multiple rounds until winners are determined.
It is important to note that this update does not introduce traditional multiplayer, but instead expands how NPC customers interact with the shop through the tournament system, creating a more dynamic and engaging management experience.
As an added bonus, the update introduces a camera mode on the in-game phone, allowing players to capture key moments such as victories, well-stocked prize shelves, and the growth of their shop. All photos are saved in an in-game gallery, serving as a record of achievements and the player’s progression over time.
