The game Whisper Mountain Outbreak arrives today, August 11, on Steam Early Access, bringing a cooperative survival horror experience in isometric view. Developed by Toge Productions, the title challenges groups of players to contain a supernatural outbreak threatening to spread across the fog-covered slopes of Mt. Bisik. Set in 1998, the story reveals how a mining operation unleashed an ancient entity, awakening ancestral horrors and shrouding the region in a cursed mist.
The journey places the player in the role of an agent from BRIM (Bureau of Research & Investigation of Metaphysics), tasked with investigating and eliminating paranormal threats. To fulfill this mission, it will be necessary to explore abandoned buildings, face terrifying creatures, gather resources, craft equipment, solve puzzles, and most importantly, find a way to destroy the evil hidden beneath the mountain's veil.
During the Early Access period, expected to last approximately 12 months, the development team plans to gradually expand the content. Updates will include new customization options, story progress, improvements to weapons and equipment, new enemies, as well as new mission types and stages to keep the experience constantly challenging.
The initial version already offers a solid foundation for virtual survivors. There are eight randomly generated stages divided into three mission types, along with an arsenal of 12 unique weapons, including melee weapons, customizable firearms, and explosives, six character classes, fifteen skill upgrades, a crafting system, and adjustable visuals for the agents.
Each incursion demands strategy and cooperation, as the threat is not only physical but also psychological. The whispers and apparitions described by residents near the mountain reinforce the tense atmosphere, while the danger grows with every moment the fog continues to spread.
The 1990s setting, with elements of investigation and horror, creates an immersive atmosphere that connects narrative and gameplay. The cooperative PvE style requires coordination among participants to manage resources, share ammunition, and decide when to confront or avoid the enemy.
