Toge Productions has released The Geared-Up Update for Whisper Mountain Outbreak, expanding players' survival options with new equipment, an additional map, a new mission type, and a wide range of gameplay improvements. The update is now available for both the full game and the Friend's Pass version, strengthening the cooperative experience while introducing fresh challenges that make every mission even more unpredictable.
The biggest addition comes in the form of utility items designed to reduce or counter the negative effects caused by cursed items. These include Hazmat Gear, which protects against radiation, toxic puddles, dizziness, and disorientation, Night Vision Goggles, which prevent blindness, improve visibility in dark environments, and reveal invisible enemies, as well as the Armor Vest, which absorbs damage until its durability is depleted but reduces movement speed because of its weight.
Exploration tools have also been expanded to streamline mission progression. The Lockpicking Tool skips the traditional lockpicking sequence, while the Bolt Cutter can now be carried between missions, allowing agents to cut chains, padlocks, rebar, wire mesh, and other obstacles instead of being limited to a single operation.
The new Dizziness status effect introduces another layer of danger by disrupting agents' movement and controls during missions. This mechanic is tied to the new Sickness Bar, displayed below the stamina bar, which triggers the effect once it exceeds the marked red threshold.
The Sickness Bar increases through excessive herb consumption, exposure to toxic substances, and the use of cursed items. Players can manage the condition with items such as the Blue Herb and Tonic, both of which reduce the Sickness Bar or remove the effects of Dizziness.
The update also introduces Hotel De Maan, a historic colonial era hotel located in the heart of Daha. Hidden beneath its aging halls are dark secrets and new puzzle filled areas that encourage players to search for concealed chambers containing valuable rewards.
Another highlight is the arrival of the new Extermination mission type, which challenges players to locate and destroy every brood nest infesting the map before completing the operation.
The roguelite mode has also been reworked with a three phase map structure. The opening phase features a lower density of threats to help players learn the game's core mechanics before progressing into increasingly difficult encounters.
Competitive play has been expanded with the addition of a leaderboard system that lets players compete for the highest mission scores. Because the game remains in Early Access, leaderboard data may be reset periodically as development and balance updates continue.
The class selection interface has been redesigned to provide a clearer experience. The system offers six classes, displaying five at a time, and prevents multiple agents from selecting the same class during a mission, encouraging better team coordination.
The update also adds rim lighting effects to player characters, enemies, and dropped items, making them easier to identify in dark environments. Dozens of bug fixes have also been implemented, delivering a smoother and more polished experience across all available modes.
