Warhounds is now available for PC and arrives as one of August’s tactical turn based game releases, earning very positive reviews on Steam. Developed by Everplay DMCC and published by Brightika, Inc., the title follows an elite squad of mercenaries operating in an alternate future Africa, combining influences from XCOM and Jagged Alliance with an approach inspired by classic action movies.

The campaign puts players in command of specialized operators, each with abilities and equipment designed for different combat situations. Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier are among the available classes, while decisions involving positioning, lines of fire, flanking, destructible cover, and high ground determine the outcome of each encounter.

The combat system prioritizes planning and physics rather than predetermined outcomes based on luck, making every shot and movement dependent on the conditions found on the battlefield. Realistic ballistics, destructible cover, vertical movement, and cone based surveillance expand the tactical possibilities, while drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camouflage provide additional tools for dealing with different threats.

High lethality also makes operator management an essential part of the experience, requiring constant attention to wounded units, extraction procedures, and the protection of key characters. Between operations, players can recruit new mercenaries, improve their abilities, acquire equipment, and manage aspects such as logistics, finances, medical care, and the team’s downtime.

Decisions made outside combat directly influence the campaign, as alliances, contracts, and relationships with different factions can change access to missions, equipment, and allies. Gathering intelligence and carrying out covert operations are also part of the structure, allowing the squad to establish its own path while influencing the direction of the conflict.

The duration of operations accommodates different playstyles, with missions that can be completed in approximately 25 to 40 minutes or longer experiences for players who prefer extended sessions. The difficulty can also be adjusted, offering everything from more accessible encounters to extremely punishing situations in which every decision can determine whether an operator survives.

Set in a world after 2035, the campaign combines advanced technology, military conflicts, and strategic decisions in a scenario where consequences accumulate over time. The need to balance combat, management, and political relationships turns every contract into an opportunity to influence the future of the region, while the squad must constantly adapt to the changing conditions of war.

By combining tactical combat, mercenary management, and strategic decision making, the game aims to deliver an experience in which planning and preparation have a direct impact on the battlefield. The result is a campaign focused on building an effective squad, carefully selecting contracts, and dealing with the consequences of every operation.
