Volkswagen AG is teaming up with AirConsole to introduce a distinctive in-car gaming experience for drivers and passengers. This partnership will integrate AirConsole’s gaming platform into several Volkswagen models, including the ID.7, ID.5, ID.4, and ID.3, as well as the new Passat, Tiguan, Golf, and Golf Estate. This innovation aims to provide engaging entertainment options during road trips and breaks, enhancing the driving experience.

The AirConsole platform will transform the vehicle’s infotainment display into a game console, with smartphones serving as controllers. This setup allows passengers, especially in the ID.7 Tourer, to play games together using their smartphones, mimicking the experience of home gaming consoles. Volkswagen plans to roll out this feature in select European countries starting mid-September and to expand it with additional games by the end of 2024.

To use AirConsole, players need only their smartphones and the VW Active Info Display. The connection between the smartphone and the vehicle is established via a QR code displayed on the screen. The platform supports multiple players, allowing everyone in the car to join in on the fun during stops, provided the vehicle is in park.

AirConsole, the world’s first gaming platform designed specifically for cars, offers a comprehensive gaming experience. It utilizes the car’s infotainment, sound, and light systems to create an immersive environment. With a variety of games suitable for all ages, AirConsole facilitates a social gaming experience where any passenger can participate using their phone as a controller.
