Pine Studio has officially unveiled Escape Simulator 2, the highly anticipated sequel to their best-selling first-person escape room game. Set to release on Steam, this new installment takes puzzle-solving to new heights, offering intricate escape rooms inspired by real-life escape room experts and dedicated community builders. Players can dive into richly detailed environments to uncover mysteries such as the fate of a stranded starship, the secrets of Count Dracula's castle, and the location of a cursed pirate treasure.
With a focus on innovation, Escape Simulator 2 introduces darker themes and cutting-edge gameplay mechanics. According to Boris Barbir, Co-Founder at Pine Studio, the sequel provided an opportunity to push the boundaries of the genre. "We were inspired to explore darker themes and experiment with new gameplay and puzzle mechanics," he shared. The game also features significant technical upgrades, including a new rendering engine, rewritten netcode, enhanced physics, and improved animations. Despite its mysterious tone, the sequel maintains a friendly approach to gameplay, avoiding jump scares or gore, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.
The game supports both solo and multiplayer modes, accommodating up to eight players for a cooperative experience. Players can also look forward to Room Editor 2.0, an upgraded toolset for designing custom escape rooms. This includes a new lighting engine, building constructor, and animation editor, empowering the community to expand the game's universe.
For fans of the original, Escape Simulator and its DLC are currently available at their biggest discount yet on Steam, celebrating the release of the Mayan DLC expansion. This latest update offers four immersive escape room adventures set in the Mayan jungle, adding fresh challenges for puzzle enthusiasts.
Pine Studio remains committed to supporting the first game while expanding the sequel with updates post-launch. To stay updated, players can wishlist Escape Simulator 2 on Steam and join a growing community eager to embark on this next chapter of puzzle-solving adventures.
