DavideJ and Noovola Publishing have announced triMIno, a single-player tile-matching roguelike scheduled to launch on Steam in 2027. The game combines traditional dominoes, triminoes and other tile-matching mechanics with deckbuilding systems and score-based progression. Each run begins with players opening booster packs, selecting tiles and assembling their own decks before taking on challenges that demand increasingly elaborate combinations.
Gameplay revolves around strategically placing tiles on a board, connecting matching colours or symbols to create sequences and accumulate points. Featuring nine different tile shapes, special modifiers and stackable multipliers, certain placements can trigger chain reactions capable of significantly increasing the score. However, limited board space and progressively higher score targets demand careful planning, as every placed tile influences the possibilities that follow.
The progression system allows players to exceed the required score to complete each level in exchange for additional coins, taking the risk of entering overtime. The accumulated resources can be spent at the ink shop, which offers new tiles, board expansions, individual colour and symbol adjustments, and modifications to tile shapes. Players can also add special traits that affect neighbouring tiles or retrigger chains, creating opportunities to develop more effective combinations.
Strategic deckbuilding is further expanded through 69 charms, 22 tile modifiers and nine consumables, whose effects can be combined to create synergies and scoring multipliers. Customisation allows players to modify individual blocks, swap symbols, change colours and introduce properties capable of triggering additional connections. These possibilities offer different approaches to each run, making deck construction a central part of the experience.
The main mode features ten levels with increasingly demanding score targets, with completing the sequence securing victory in a standard run. After overcoming these challenges, players can continue using their carefully crafted builds in endless mode, aiming for even higher scores. With 16 game modes and various customisation options, the title focuses on combining planning, experimentation and strategic progression to deliver runs with varied possibilities.
