Tormented Souls 2 celebrated a significant milestone after surpassing 100,000 copies sold in just over a month since its launch on October 23. The sequel revisits the classic spirit of 90s survival horrors, expanding its global reach and reaffirming the growing interest in the collaborative work of PQube and Dual Effect.
Its strong performance reflects the global impact of the production. The oppressive atmosphere, brutal puzzles, and the return of Caroline Walker have been essential in drawing players in, resulting not only in impressive sales but also in more than 250,000 Steam wishlists that cement the title as one of 2025’s most notable horror highlights.
The positive reception also resonates among the publishers. As stated by Andy Pearson, Chief Marketing Officer at PQube, "After the success of the first game, we had high hopes for the sequel – especially given the incredible work Dual Effect put into crafting such a strong follow-up. We've been blown away by the reception. We're also working on some exciting new content and will have news in a few weeks... so keep your eye(s) peeled.." His words underscore the team’s enthusiasm and hint at upcoming updates.
The narrative continues to follow Caroline after the traumatic events at Wildberger Hospital. In her attempt to rebuild a peaceful life with her sister Anna, she witnesses the young woman being tormented by visions of violence and death that begin to manifest into reality. This leads her to the remote town of Villa Hess and a secluded clinic deep within the mountains of southern Chile, where a seemingly kind staff hides a disturbing truth.
The game’s environments immerse players in a range of unsettling locations that include a shadowy convent, an abandoned shopping mall, and a desolate school. The journey also introduces supernatural abilities that allow players to shift between realities, change events, and discover new paths while exploring the nightmarish Other Side.
Combat plays a central role in the experience, offering makeshift weapons that can be enhanced and a quick select feature that improves responsiveness in battle. Alongside this, the puzzles demand thorough observation as players examine, manipulate, and combine items to uncover hidden information and solve intricate challenges.
