The Vow: Vampire's Curse has received a new demo on Steam, introducing a series of improvements that refine the experience of the deckbuilding roguelike with turn based tactical combat developed by Mimyr Games. Featuring fully hand drawn artwork and a dark fantasy setting, the game puts players on a quest to rescue their fiancée from the clutches of a powerful vampire, facing seven nights filled with strategic battles, resource management, and a relentless curse that demands perseverance to overcome.
The story follows a protagonist bound by a sacred vow to save his beloved, rising each night to confront the curse that has consumed the world. Survival depends on careful planning and adaptability, as every encounter takes place on a tactical grid where each move can determine victory or defeat. During the day, players can strengthen their defenses, adjust their strategy, and prepare the deck that will shape their chances of survival once darkness falls.
The latest demo focuses on making gameplay smoother and more responsive. New additions include expanded audio feedback for actions and interactions, faster animations, and the ability for multiple animations to play simultaneously, reducing downtime between events and allowing players to return to the action more quickly.
Another major update is the reworked push system. Units that are pushed can now collide with and push other units, creating chain reactions that expand tactical possibilities and encourage new approaches to every battle.
The developers are also experimenting with a redesigned card system, which represents the most significant gameplay change currently under development. The new concept aims to make the mechanics easier for newcomers to understand by allowing any card to be played at any time, while playing multiple cards of the same color consecutively builds a chain that rewards thoughtful planning. Although the feature is still in the prototyping phase, the team plans to continue refining it based on community feedback.
Beyond the new demo improvements, the experience continues to emphasize replayability, allowing players to unlock new content with each attempt and venture deeper into the vampire infested world. The combination of deckbuilding, tactical decision making, and roguelike progression reinforces the game's goal of delivering fresh challenges with every run.
