Acclaim, the recently revived video game publisher, and Swedish indie studio Elden Pixels have announced that The Prisoning: Fletcher's Quest will arrive on Nintendo Switch and Steam on February 10, 2026, expanding the catalog of author driven experiences that explore personal narratives within the action and adventure genre.

Created by the team behind Alwa's Legacy and A Void Hope, the project invites players to dive into the fractured mind of Fletcher Howie Jr., a developer on the brink of a mental breakdown during the final stages of a massive project, transforming creative tension and emotional exhaustion into mechanics and situations filled with humor.

During a post crunch therapy session that goes completely off the rails, the protagonist becomes trapped in his own subconscious, forced to confront fears, insecurities, and anxieties in a metroidvania adventure that blends comedy, reflection, and progressive challenges across symbolic environments.

To celebrate the release date announcement, Acclaim has unveiled a new gameplay trailer showcasing Fletcher exploring the dangerous recesses of his mental prison, facing towering bosses, and pushing through traps and obstacles that represent an overwhelming and constant emotional burden.

The narrative premise reinforces that, after a visit to the psychologist that goes terribly wrong, players find themselves trapped in the mind of a developer on the verge of physical and emotional burnout during the final stretch of an intense project, delivering a metroidvania experience drenched in anxiety and inspired by very real events.

Highlights include a story based on true events and clearly inspired by real world experiences, alongside a full set of upgrades, weapons, enemies, and bosses, forming a journey that balances action, narrative, and a conscious dose of creative self critique.
