Yokozuna Games has unveiled a new demo of Tactful Tactics, a tactical RPG that allows the entire party to prepare their actions simultaneously rather than waiting for each player to take their turn. Focused on online co-op for up to six players, the game refreshes traditional turn-based combat with a simultaneous planning system in which participants can follow their teammates' decisions in real time and adjust their own strategies before executing their actions together.
The concept emerged from a central question during development: "how could the waiting time in multiplayer turn-based strategy games be reduced without compromising tactical depth?" The solution combines shared planning with simultaneous execution, allowing each participant to contribute to the outcome of battles without waiting for individual turns to conclude. The experience can be enjoyed solo or in online teams of up to six players.
Character customization offers different specialization options through class selection, weapon equipment, and skill customization. Building different character setups influences each player's combat style and role within the party, encouraging the creation of complementary configurations. The combination of equipment and abilities also expands the strategic options available during encounters.
Team coordination is essential to overcoming challenges, as the effectiveness of each action depends on the ability to monitor teammates' plans and adapt individual decisions to the group's needs. Synergies between different abilities enable coordinated attacks and strategic responses to emerging threats, making communication and collective planning central elements in achieving victory.
